| Application A Q309A thermocouple in conjunction with a pilot burner, provides a flame proving function in a gas appliance. As long as pilot burner flame is present the millivolt output from the thermocouple keeps the safety valve in the combination gas control open, allowing main gas to flow to the aplliance upon demand. Specification Output: 22 ... 30 mV Heat up time: 20 s max. Drop-out time: 45 s max. Heat- up time The minimum open circuit output of the thermocouple shall be 15 mV within 20 s when heated in such a way that in stabilized situation the thermocouple tip is at least 600 °C Drop-out time The maximum drop-out time shall be 45 s, unless otherwise mentioned. The open circuit output of the thermocouple shall drop below 4 mV within 45 s after removing heat source, when thermocouple is mounted in a single port pilot burner and thermocouple tip is heated by a gas flame up to 700 °C.
